Experiments

Here in the Experiments area you'll find all the brow-furrowing, chin-stroking activities that The ECC has been up to. Mischievous MP3s, vituperous videos, cued and ready for instant consumption and sardonic satisfaction.

Note the categories to the left. If you want only music, click MP3s. If you want only videos, there's that too. You can also peek into our Testing Area to hear beta tests and unfinished experiments that we're playing around with.  And if you're wondering just what the hell we were thinking when we made those experiments, you might find the answers in our blog.  Recent additions to all four categories are listed below.

Titonton Duvante

The Sound Of Plaid episode 2014.03.17:  Special Guest Titonton Duvante

On this show we welcome electronic musician, DJ, producer, and composer Titonton Duvante for a long overdue interview.  Considering our great interview with Ed Luna (2013.05.20) revisiting Columbus Ohio's early days of electronic music and techno, it's high time that we drag in the members of the seminal band Body Release to speak for themselves.  Mike Textbeak will be the next, but first up is Tintonton in advance of his live PA at the Future Maudit show March 28 (2014).

From Titonton's website:

...through a multifaceted career as a composer, recording artist, producer, remixer, record label owner and DJ, Titonton Duvante continues to evolve creatively. As a DJ known for blurring the boundaries of electronic music genres, Titonton deconstructs, blends and rebuilds beats with his special brand of funky turntablism.

Yep, it's true -- The Evolution Control Committee got play on the Spike TV channel:

Since it's had almost a million views, it seems high time for an explanation.  The video for this (and also for Lunch) was made by NYC videographer Transfatty, who managed to talk Spike TV into airing it.  They did... but on one condition: That the lyrics lose the product placement.  Thus, we re-recorded "Bisquick/Pancake/Waffle" to be "Flapjack/Pancake/Waffle".

Prisoner logoThe Sound Of Plaid episode 2014.03.17:  St. Patrick McGoohan's Day

Forget St. Patrick's Day, we're celebrating St. Patrick McGoohan's Day!  The author of the cult TV series The Prisoner, Patrick "Number 6" McGoohan took a stand against conformity in this surreal allegory of a nameless spy kidnapped to a resort prison island.  Today we hear music from the series plus music inspired by it, with ample discussion of the show's meaning and impact on today's culture.

Who is No. 1?
You are No. 6.
I am not a number...
