Truus De Groot

Our next radio show welcomes Dutch musician Truus de Groot!  Her career as a musician and singer has spanned several decades, propelling her from Eindhoven to solo performances and group collaborations (Plus Instruments, Rhys Chatham) throughout the world.  She's also designed her own electronic instruments, some of which she brought to Columbus for her excellent 2014 Fuse Factory performance.

Sound Of Plaid logoTime for another one of our vague yet oh-so-awesome Listener Request episodes of The Sound Of Plaid!

Once again we invite listeners to make requests for vague concepts only... no specific songs.  But don't worry; the perfect song to match your concept will be chosen -- either by us, or by other listeners.  Wisdom of the crowd, y'know?

To coordinate this game of indirect connections our listener request system will take your requests and let you suggest matches for others' requests.  So get vague and make your request below!

MJ's incredible works in sculpture, books, ceramics, and installation are not to be missed (see her website) and her previous two Genie Can Do! radio shows have given us some of our favorite Sound Of Plaid radio moments.  Tune in!

Mike Textbeak

On this Monday's radio show we welcome electronic musician Mike Textbeak with a guest mix of dark tracks new and old.  An appropriate follow-up to last week's guest Titonton Duvante, Mike was also one of the original members of the seminal band Body Release.  After they broke up each member went on to prolific solo careers, many of which continue now twenty years later.  Mike is no exception, and he's still an active DJ and musician.

From his Facebook page:

Mike Textbeak has always straddled the line between experimental industrial and dance music with his releases on labels such as Tundra Dubs (San Francisco), Lasergun (Berlin), Bleak (Vienna), Pale Noir (Madison, WI), Vaatican Records (France), Xynthetic (Canada), Time Theory, 21/22 Corp, Swishcotheque (UK), Colin Johnco (France), Amduscias, Audiotie (Germany), Politicide (Germany), and co-owns the Philtre Com imprint with co-conspirator Claus Muzak aka Lucas Kuzma of The Strange Agency (musical instrument app company). He was just commissioned for the exclusive Precarious mixtape for Disaro Records.
