Wow!  When a hoarse-voiced TradeMark G. made a little YouTube video demonstrating our new video mashup screen, we certainly didn't expect that over 142,000 179,000 of you would see it...!  Thanks to BoingBoing, Laughing Squid, Hack A Day, and others for posting this around, ultimately pushing it all the way to be a featured video on YouTube's home page...

Thanks!  It's inspired us to make this live video of The VidiMasher 3000 in action at a recent Wheel Of Mashup show at the Red Devil Lounge:

The Evolution Control Committee performed a short while ago at the Outback Music Festival -- and the photos they sent of our show are jaw-droppingly great:  (click to zoom)

Almost steampunk-ish... how'd that happen?  We performed in a barn at a hot springs...

Thanks KaTreeZ!

Have you heard our Pwn Monkey song on the Old Nerdy Bastard compilation ?  Reactions to it seem to be generally great -- and after having packed samples from 36 different songs into the two and a half minute remix, we feel we've earned them:

wow, the track is just a clusterfuck of songs from the past 30 years.

and it’s still really good.

OMG *and* Rainbow Connection! My not so secret “song I really really want to hear JoCo play live in NYC” (not so subtle hint~)

In short, our remix takes Jonathon Coulton's vocals (only) for his song "Code Monkey" and mashes it with loads of breaks/samples from other songs... in key.  His chord progressions are followed with every sample and every measure.  (Listen now with the player at the bottom of this page)  There are plenty of other good responses in that thread, though we have to admit, this one's strange:

Hmm, no offense to the makers of that remix, buth the best word to describe that Code Monkey track is “castrophony”.

None taken.  Later on the replies start attempting to cite each sample we use, but nobody made it past about 20 of them.  So we thought we'd oblige with a full list -- slightly hurried, due to our Burning Man preparations -- of each accompanying sample in order:

Jukebox Hero
AC/DC Back In Black
Unbelievable
Venus, resampled
Fifth of Beethoven
DJ Shadow, Organ Donor
AWB Pick Up The Pieces
Safety Dance
Go-go's, We Got The Beat
Portishead
Rush, Tom Sawyer
Another One Bites The Dust
Shining Star
Whole Lotta Love
ELO, Don't Bring Me Down
Rainbow Connection
Funkytown
Heaven 17
Block Rockin' Beats
Led Zep, Stairway
VU, Venus In Furs
Human League
Groove Me
Ashley's Roachclip
Mowhawks, The Champ
Ray Charles, What'd I Say
Shamen, Move Every Mountain
Zapp & Roger, More Bounce To The Ounce
BarKays
Beasties
Funky Worm
Ren & Stimpy Theme
Born in the USA
Pachelbel's Canon
Linus & Lucy
Shock The Monkey

Total: 36 different sources, each tuned to Jonathon's chord progression.  Mash THAT, suckaz.
