Sound of Plaid logoThe Sound Of Plaid episode 2013.05.27:  Special Guest ESTEFAN (Former Radio Pirate)

Today's Sound Of Plaid guest is Estefan, who spearheaded a pirate radio station 14 years ago here in Columbus Ohio which featured weekly shows from Grootnik P. Bargelights (aka Plaid host TradeMark G) and a handful of talented others.  In this episode we listen to hilarious clips from Grootnik/TradeMark hosted shows about subjects like Flowbees, square music, mustard, and The Rare Jazz At The Wrong Speed Hour.  A great document of a great era of local pirate radio!

Longtime Columbus noisemaker Stevie 7 (Tactil Vision, 5am Conductions) is our guest on this episode of The Sound Of Plaid!  His electronic jams may be rooted in IDM and industrial, but he tickles our fancy not only with his own music but by bringing tracks from Herbie Hancock to Vivaldi.

James Davis and TradeMark GOn this week's episode of The Sound Of Plaid we're joined once again by special guest JAMES DAVIS, author of the blog Local Autonomy.  Local Autonomy has aggressively and admirably documented the local electronic music scene, current and historical, through numerous interviews and music reviews.  His first appearance last November was such a blast that we just had to have him back for more of his discoveries and knowledge and just plain good jams.  Prepare yourself for a great tour of our local scene with all the best tunes James can fill two hours with!

P.S.: Just did the episode; what great discussions!!  We couldn't stop talking... too many great topics to discuss at length, from obscure recording formats to the physicality of music.  Lots of great 'n' heady discussions in this episode!

Sound of Plaid logoThe Sound Of Plaid episode 2013.01.21:  Listener Requests VI

For tomorrow's episode of The Sound Of Plaid we want to hear from you!  As before, we're doing listener requests with a twist -- two simple rules:

  1. Vague concepts only -- do NOT request specific songs...
  2. ...unless you have a song to fill someone else's request.

Previous requests included Cobblestones, jail shower memories, "Perpetual Pastry", and Schizothemia... what's yours?  Make your request on our Facebook page and tune in tomorrow at noon EST on DFM!
