Wobbly. Our guest for this week's Sound Of Plaid radio show is Wobbly (aka Jon Leidecker).

Wobbly has had a long music career as a musician equally adept at sampling versus non-sampling music.  Recent work has focused more on collaborations, including some with The ECC such as the Beatlerape Live show, and a new album on Illegal Art collaborating with People Like Us.  Wobbly is also a frequent DJ, flaunting a wikipedic knowledge of music at events often in galleries/museums.  One such museum asked him to go further, and the result is Variations, a five part (so far) series of one-hour podcasts exploring the history of sampling, collage, and the general concept of remixing.  Impress in both scope and detail, It is quite possibly the most in-depth series of its kind.

On this week's show, we talk to Wobbly about Variations and listen to some of the incredible and rare music from it.

Many chances to hear the show, and if you can't make the times below, you can hear it at The Sound Of Plaid Archives later in the week.

Amsterdam benefit for DFM at OCCII

Coming up:  a benefit show in Amsterdam for a very deserving radio station.

Just to be clear up front:  The ECC is not performing at this show.  But we have connections: the deserving radio station is DFM Radio International, the Amsterdam-based internet radio station who broadcast the recent ubRadio Salon that ECC participated in, as well as DJ Marcelle's interview with The ECC (and you should listen to archives of both).

It's not easy to keep an internet radio station on the air without lowering the experience through advertising or charging the listeners (or even the DJs!), which some other stations do.  Benefits like these are often the only source of income a station has.  Thank you!

Flyer for ECC's Long Beach showAs promised, we're coming back LA:  The Evolution Control Committee performs at Alex's Bar for the Cafe Racer Ride-In (thanks Ed!).  Fresh from Europe (stylistically, if not aromatically) we'll set up the Wheel Of Mashup featuring the Vidimasher 3000 for all your SoCal pleasure!  It's an early show -- door at 5, first band at 6 -- just right for a Sunday night.  Still working on more shows for the weekend -- anyone?  Little help?
