Sound Of Plaid episode 2012.04.26: Special Guest: GENIE CAN DO (Mary Jo Bole)
Steppin' up for the ladies is artist Mary Jo Bole as Genie Can Do who proudly presents The Scary Mary Kay Show! We've been anxiously anticipating this show for a while, and this week it finally comes to The Sound Of Plaid. Far from just a show about the cosmetics mogul, the Scary Mary Kay Show will focus on music by women. There was so much of it we couldn't quite pack it in -- meaning Scary Mary Kay Part 2 will no doubt be a future episode.

Sound Of Plaid episode 2012.04.19: From A To Z (2nd run)
If music is truly just “organized sound” as John Cage once said, this episode of The Sound Of Plaid could be one of the most musical we'd done. Repeating the formula of our 2012.02.09 episode, we once again pick from a few crates of records unseen for nearly 10 years and play the whole show in alphabetical order.

Sound Of Plaid episode 2012.04.12: Listener Requests IV
Our Listener Request shows are proving to be the most creative and fun show, both for us and you. Largely thanks to this simple rule:
The Rule: Do NOT request specific songs. Vague concepts only.
We got dozens of requests via Facebook and This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for everything from soup to empiricism, farm animals, 80's sweater queen, bald women, and mating to the sound of macramé. We did our best to match up the right song to each concept.

Sound Of Plaid highlight: Lee Michaels Glitch-Up
Friday, 23 March 2012 04:33
On the most recent episode of The Sound Of Plaid (2012.03.22) we decided to celebrate an unseasonably warm and sunny day with the leisurely sounds of Lounge and Exotica, followed by a solid hour of Soul and Funk. Fun! During that second part of the show, DFM's jt requested that the funk needed to get a bit funked up, preferably in a glitchy, irregular way.
The result is this short highlight -- a live DJ/glitching of Lee Michaels. Got 6 minutes to listen to it? If you're impatient, skip to 1:55:
And if you like that, maybe you'd like to hear the whole two hour episode from whence it came:
It's one of well over a hundred full episodes of our radio show, ready for you to download or listen to whenever you want. Just pop on over to The Sound Of Plaid archives. If you'd like to hear a show live, just tune in Thursday:

Live MP3s from Subgenius X-Day 14
Sunday, 06 November 2011 14:52
It's surprising that The Evolution Control Committee hasn't played any events connected with the Church Of The Subgenius since 1991, considering the overlap between the two audiences. Luckily 2011 was the year to fix that at the Subgenius X-Day 14 over July 4th weekend. Why did we wait so long? Subgenius style is a total match for The ECC, and our show went over incredibly well. Well enough that Subgenius super-genius Rev. Ivan Stang played a good chunk of the show on episode 1324 of Hour Of Slack. Well enough that it inspired others to request the whole thing from us.
Behold! Here's the whole ECC performance. Right-Click (Windows or Ctrl-Click (Mac) on the file name to download. Enjoy.
ECC live at Subgenius X-Day 14 - July 2nd 2011.mp3 (58:29)
Heck, while we're at it, here's a DJ session from the follow day with Slander Bob.
