Live recording from 2010 Pop Conference (Seattle)
Sunday, 18 July 2010 08:20
Earlier this year The ECC joined Bernardo Attias and Fred Church in Seattle for the 2010 Pop Conference to present "Plagiarhythm Nation: The New "Menace of Mechanical Music". Instead of using the tried-and-tired panel talk format, we risked doing something new: A discussion of remix culture, which got remixed live.
It went fairly well and although we edited together the live recording a while ago, we forgot to post it! So without further delay, I present to you the recording of our talk about remixing, remixed by TradeMark G. with the VidiMasher 3000.

Sound Of Plaid archive: JOHN HELL (2010.03.23)
Thursday, 25 March 2010 11:04
TradeMark and Frilly welcome guest John Hell, a staple of the San Francisco radio dial since 1988. Together, we celebrate the birthday of William Shatner with cuts from his albums "The Transformed Man" and "Has Been", and follow it up with some Leonard Nimoy for balanace. We also rub Ronald Reagan's nose in the American "socialized medicine" he railed against, which was signed into law earlier the day of our show.
Our apologies for the bad sound quality in this show; our studio recording failed so we had to grab the live feed stream, which is heavily compressed and equalized. Sorry!

Sound Of Plaid archive: MARQUIS DUQUE (2010.03.16)
Wednesday, 17 March 2010 15:18
Cripes-o-blimey, was that a funky one...
The renegade Funketeer Marquis DuQue (aka Aeion Solar) challenged us to Funk Or Walk, and we chose the former: A menagerie with The Funky Penguin, The Funky Bird, and other funky fauna and flora, largely of the George Clinton phylum (Funkadelic, Parliament, etc.). The Marquis closed the show treating us to three of his own tracks; great stuff considering he has yet to release anything officially. We'll be anxious to listen when he does.

Sound Of Plaid archive: KOMEGA (2010.02.23)
Friday, 26 February 2010 08:25
Our special guest on this episode is KOMEGA, creator of amazing light and sound devices who shared with us (in his words) "a lifetime of [vinyl] musical memories: 78's from the 40's, 45's from the 70's and 80's... it's gonna be B-side craziness." We played all of that vinyl and more!
