Special guest MIKE TEXTBEAK on Sound Of Plaid
Sunday, 30 March 2014 08:34
On this Monday's radio show we welcome electronic musician Mike Textbeak with a guest mix of dark tracks new and old. An appropriate follow-up to last week's guest Titonton Duvante, Mike was also one of the original members of the seminal band Body Release. After they broke up each member went on to prolific solo careers, many of which continue now twenty years later. Mike is no exception, and he's still an active DJ and musician.
From his Facebook page:
Mike Textbeak has always straddled the line between experimental industrial and dance music with his releases on labels such as Tundra Dubs (San Francisco), Lasergun (Berlin), Bleak (Vienna), Pale Noir (Madison, WI), Vaatican Records (France), Xynthetic (Canada), Time Theory, 21/22 Corp, Swishcotheque (UK), Colin Johnco (France), Amduscias, Audiotie (Germany), Politicide (Germany), and co-owns the Philtre Com imprint with co-conspirator Claus Muzak aka Lucas Kuzma of The Strange Agency (musical instrument app company). He was just commissioned for the exclusive Precarious mixtape for Disaro Records.

Special guest TITONTON DUVANTE Monday on Sound Of Plaid
Sunday, 23 March 2014 09:29
On this Monday's radio show we welcome electronic musician Titonton Duvante for a long overdue interview. Considering last year's great interview with Ed Luna revisiting Columbus Ohio's early days of electronic music and techno, it's high time that we drag in the members of the seminal band Body Release to speak for themselves. Mike Textbeak will be the next, but first up is Tintonton in advance of his live PA at the Future Maudit show March 28.
From his website:
...through a multifaceted career as a composer, recording artist, producer, remixer, record label owner and DJ, Titonton Duvante continues to evolve creatively. As a DJ known for blurring the boundaries of electronic music genres, Titonton deconstructs, blends and rebuilds beats with his special brand of funky turntablism.

NEW ALBUM: Raymond Scott Rewired out now!
Thursday, 20 March 2014 12:01
ALBUM RELEASE!
What would happen if mashup masters The Bran Flakes, The Evolution Control Committee, and Go Home Productions were set loose in the audio archives of the legendary Raymond Scott with a blank check to sample anything and everything -- from his 1930's cartoon jazz to his 1960's electronic experiments to unreleased studio recordings?
The answer is Raymond Scott Rewired, an album of remixes and mashups of everything Raymond, produced by Irwin Chusid, handler of the Raymond Scott estate and legendary WFMU DJ. The Bran Flakes, ECC, and GHP contribute 6 songs each and jointly collaborated to create their cover version of Scott's signature tune Powerhouse for the album's finale.
Other ways to get your copy at the RAYMOND SCOTT REWIRED website!
RSR was the #14 best selling album of Amazon's Electronica music on 03/14/14!

episode 2014.02.24:
ALBUM RELEASE SPECIAL!
On this Monday's radio show we welcome very special guests Otis Fodder (Bran Flakes) and Irwin Chusid (WFMU; Raymond Scott Archives) to celebrate the album release of RAYMOND SCOTT REWIRED!
Three mixologists who work under group names — The Bran Flakes, The Evolution Control Committee, and Go Home Productions — were given hundreds of recordings owned by the Raymond Scott estate, spanning the 1930s to the 1980s: jazz, orchestral, electronic, experimental, studio chatter, never-heard rarities. Each chemist contributed six audio montages with new titles, and they collaborated on Scott’s signature tune “Powerhouse.”
The project, RAYMOND SCOTT REWIRED, was produced by Scott historian/archivist Irwin Chusid. Official release date is February 18 on Basta.
Otis and Irwin will discuss the album with co-collaborator TradeMark and co-host Frilly (but without Mark Vidler of Go Home Productions, who couldn't make it) and play many of the album's 19 tracks including the joint collaboration finale of the album, Raymond Scott's classic Powerhouse.
