Experiments

Here in the Experiments area you'll find all the brow-furrowing, chin-stroking activities that The ECC has been up to. Mischievous MP3s, vituperous videos, cued and ready for instant consumption and sardonic satisfaction.

Note the categories to the left. If you want only music, click MP3s. If you want only videos, there's that too. You can also peek into our Testing Area to hear beta tests and unfinished experiments that we're playing around with.  And if you're wondering just what the hell we were thinking when we made those experiments, you might find the answers in our blog.  Recent additions to all four categories are listed below.

Although The ECC maintains a SoundCloud account, we're cheap about it.  Hence, tracks there have a limit on how many people can download it.  Not so over here on the ECC mothership.  So, when we got a message from SoundCloud that our track "Fock It" from All Rights Reserved was reaching that limit, we figured it was time to post it here.  Actually it was available here all along, as part of a bundle of MP3s offered on our general ECC MP3s page.  Still, using our search box didn't point to it, so let's fix that with this very post.

As the SoundCloud post explains:

Subtle, this one... some don't catch the joke. This is Herbie Hancock's synth instrumental anthem "Rock It" remixed and retuned to play Harold Faltermeyer's "Axel F" synth instrumental anthem instead.

SCMS logoEarlier this year The ECC once again joined Bernardo Attias and Fred Church, this time in New Orleans for the 2011 SCMS Conference.  The panel: "The DJ in Electronic Dance Music - Media Citizenship, Appropriation, and Cultural Hybridity".  Like their 2010 collaboration in Seattle, Bernardo and Fred gave talks which were remixed and augmented by The ECC using the VidiMasher 3000.  That was followed by The ECC (TradeMark Gunderson and Christy Brand) giving a talk about recent challenges producing the new ECC All Rights Reserved album.  The resulting Q&A with the audience was a rewarding and engaging 45 minutes -- just 10 minutes less than the talks that preceded it.

Frilly White (Belinda Blair, TradeMark Gunderson, and Christy "Frilly" Brand) Long time friends and mischievous co-conspirators, The Evolution Control Committee and Ms. Belinda Blair (aka Dirty Blonde on Uke, aka Kiss My Lily White Ass), teamed up recently to record a song. While it seems an unlikely pairing to put the "Grandfather of Mashup" together with a foul-mouthed ukelele singer, the pairing worked and produced this new single: "Perfect Day."
