Coming up:  a benefit show in Amsterdam for a very deserving radio station.

Just to be clear up front:  The ECC is not performing at this show.  But we have connections: the deserving radio station is DFM Radio International, the Amsterdam-based internet radio station who broadcast the recent ubRadio Salon that ECC participated in, as well as DJ Marcelle's interview with The ECC (and you should listen to archives of both).

It's not easy to keep an internet radio station on the air without lowering the experience through advertising or charging the listeners (or even the DJs!), which some other stations do.  Benefits like these are often the only source of income a station has.  Thank you!

From the benefit info page:

The pace has been picking up here at ECC headquarters, but for too long now all the fun's been here in California.  So let's switch it up -- with great pleasure, we announce upcoming dates for The ECC in Europe!

First Stop: LONDON

Thanks to the unstoppable Nigel Turner of Pickled Egg Records, our first stop (and only UK show) is the Betsey Trotwood in London.  We'll be rounding out a Pickled Egg showcase and sharing the stage with freeform jazzers a.P.A.t.T. and cartoon poppers Freeze Puppy. This will be our first show abroad with The Wheel Of Mashup and the Vidimasher 3000 -- if you're in the UK, don't miss this!

What: Pickled Egg Showcase: The Evolution Control Committee, a.P.A.t.T., & Freeze Puppy
When: Saturday March 28th, 2009 • 8pm
Where: The Betsey Trotwood‎ • 56 Farringdon Rd • London, EC1R 3BL

Second Stop: EINDHOVEN

No small event, this: The STRP Festival generously invited The ECC to be part of this great art and technology festival.  And we're in great company: Other names on the bill include Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Laurie Anderson, and many others that we can't wait to see, let alone share a stage with.  The ECC is doing double duty, performing with the Thimbletron on Friday April 3rd and then with the Wheel Of Mashup on Saturday April 4th.  With so much great music, art, film, and workshops, you'll kick yourself plus a couple dogs if you miss this.

Coming soon... to a city near you?

With shows approaching in Eindhoven (Netherlands), London, Amsterdam, Seattle, Cleveland, and more you can see why we've been telling each other that 2009 is the year of The ECC.  But we're getting ahead of ourselves -- let's just stick to this weekend:  Hello, Los Angeles.

The Bootie mashup club night has earned quite a bit of well-deserved success, bursting their Bay Area britches and franchising the night to New York, Paris, Munich, Beijing, Australia, and more.  But their first post-SF city is still one of their biggest: Bootie Los Angeles.  The ECC had a great show there two years ago at the old Safari Sam's space, but with our hot new Vidimasher 3000 and an updated Wheel of Mashup it was high time to visit again.  Early birds get in cheap AND get a free CD.  So come visit us at the Echoplex, spin the wheel, and mash your ass off!

WHAT: Bootie LA with The ECC, DJ Paul V, DJ Shyboy, and more
WHEN: This Saturday, March 7th 2009, 9p-2a (ECC @ 11p)
WHERE: Echoplex, 1154 Glendale Blvd. (Back Entrance)
HOW MUCH: $5 before 10p / $10 after
