Long before computers made it easy to be a copyright criminal,
The ECC was violating copyright laws the hard way.

On this week's Sound Of Plaid internet radio we are proud to present our very special guest KOMEGA!  We'll keep him from his usual packed schedule of creating amazing light and sound devices... and making music on them... and performing that music at controllerism-friendly LoveTech shows (which he co-founded)... how he finds time to also work a job, I cannot imagine.  (Well, working for a super-cool tech artist doesn't hurt, I'm sure.)

But don't expect much of that on our radio show this week.  His new website does much better justice to showing off his lovely creations that our eloquent on-mic descriptions ever could.  Instead, Komega will bring (in his word) "a lifetime of [vinyl] musical memories: 78's from the 40's, 45's from the 70's and 80's... it's gonna be B-side craziness."

You had us at 78's, Craig.

Many chances to hear the show, and if you can't make the times below, you can hear it at The Sound Of Plaid Archives (new & improved!) later in the week.

(Photo by Dustin Diaz without permission 'cuz it's simply the best picture of Komega out there)

Just to show you what you're missing -- one of his devices, the Komegatone:

When KAOS Radio Austin DJ Slander Bob told us he'd be airing an artist showcase on The ECC, we were flattered -- but then we heard the incredibly comprehensive two-hour show, and we were floored!  It's a must-hear for the die-hard ECC fan, so this week we're re-airing it on our own radio show, The Sound Of Plaid.

Listen this Tuesday (02/16/2010) on FCC Free Radio (8p-10p PST // 11p-1a EST // 0500-0700 GMT)
or listen Thursday on DFM Radio International (9a-11a PST // 12-3p EST // 1800-2000 GMT)

Speaking of our radio shows, we just made the archives a lot prettier and easier.  Check out the new look!

On our next episode of The Sound Of Plaid: Beatles And Other Animals.  We'll listen to a recent performance of finely chopped Beatles (or at least of their music) surrounded by a veritable zoo of other animal-related tunes: Moondog, Animal Collective, The Turtles, The Goats, Funky Worm, Atomic Dog... got the picture?

Listen this Tuesday (02/02/2010) on FCC Free Radio (8p-10p PST // 11p-1a EST // 0500-0700 GMT)
or listen Thursday on DFM Radio International (9a-11a PST // 12-3p EST // 1800-2000 GMT)

On this week's Sound Of Plaid internet radio we are proud to present our very special guest Moldover!

If music is your life, brace yourself because Moldover is about to destroy your world. In a desert of detached laptop DJs, a singular thunderclap echos across the landscape cuing a torrential onslaught of instrumental innovation and a seismic tsunami of live musicianship. Worshiped by 700,000 YouTube viewers as "The Godfather of Controllerism", and revered by musicians, producers, artists, engineers, hackers and music fans world-wide, Moldover is "literally throwing away the rule book and reinventing the wheel" (Remix Magazine). But this is no natural phenomenon. Every aspect of Moldover's perfect storm has been meticulously constructed from scratch.

I mean, just LOOK at that device he's holding... that's his Mojo, and he'll serenade you with it on our program.  Tune in!
